We have stated that we are ready to begin consultations on the time and place of signing the peace agreement. Azerbaijan has its ideas, its own questions. We assess that all these issues are reflected in the text of the peace agreement, and we will try to clarify our positions in the future.
Axar.az reports that these words were spoken by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today in a conversation with journalists at the office of the Civil Contract Party.
He also answered the question of whether Armenia is holding discussions with Azerbaijan on amendments to the Constitution:
“No. There is no such discussion. After last year’s decision of the Constitutional Court, it became clear that the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia does not contain territorial claims against either Azerbaijan or any other country. Secondly, we believe that the Constitution of Azerbaijan contains territorial claims against Armenia.
However, with all these possible perceptions, there is now a new reality. This is the existence of an agreed text of the peace agreement. This text solves all these problems. We will try to talk to Azerbaijan about this issue in the upcoming discussions and see what the logic of their position is. At least three articles of the peace treaty touch on these issues, and they have been resolved. If we discuss this issue, we will also discuss the fact that the Azerbaijani Constitution contains territorial claims against Armenia and why we believe that the text of the peace treaty resolves this issue.”
In response to the journalists’ question, “So you mean that the issue of constitutional amendments has not yet been discussed?” Pashinyan noted:
“They expressed their position, and we said that we do not discuss our internal issues.”
