The U.S. and Israel have approached officials from Sudan, Somalia, and Somaliland about resettling Palestinians uprooted from Gaza under President Donald Trump’s proposed postwar plan.
Axar.az, citing AP News, reports that the initiative, widely condemned, aims to relocate over 2 million Gazans while the U.S. takes control of the territory for redevelopment.
Sudan rejected the proposal outright, while Somali and Somaliland officials claimed they were unaware of any discussions.
Somaliland, which seeks U.S. recognition as an independent state, may have geopolitical incentives, but its officials deny involvement. Somalia, a strong Palestinian supporter, is also seen as an unlikely participant.
The plan has been criticized as legally and morally questionable, with Arab nations and human rights groups calling it forced displacement. Despite international opposition, the White House insists Trump stands by his proposal.
