Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that he is very optimistic about the reconstruction of relations with the United States as a strong partnership under Donald Trump.

Axar.az reports that in an interview with the Euronews TV channel, the head of state emphasized that when talking about geopolitical changes, it is necessary to be more specific:

“These are the events taking place in Washington. What is happening with the policies of the new American administration? This once again demonstrates how the whole world depends on the decisions made in the White House. Thus, this is the source of global geopolitical change. It has just begun, and we are experiencing the first months of this geopolitical change.”

The head of state recalled that the Azerbaijani side was disappointed by the deterioration of relations between the previous US administration and Azerbaijan.

“Their position consisted of an unfair approach to our national interests. Therefore, we are very optimistic about the reconstruction of our relations and strong partnership with the United States during the Trump administration.”
