Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has stated that he is not optimistic about achieving global stability.
Axar.az reports that in an interview with the Euronews TV channel, Ilham Aliyev said that he prefers to be realistic:
“I do not think that we will achieve stability in the coming months or even years. When it comes to the Russia- Ukraine war, even if the war stops, there is no guarantee that the war will not start again.”
He recalled that for thirty years, there was a ceasefire agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia:
“This agreement was reached in the spring of 1994. However, this did not mean the end of the war. It was just a transformation, the war ends only when a peace agreement is signed.
Even now, five years after the end of the Second Karabakh War, we do not have a peace agreement with Armenia. Yes, it is calm, and there are no casualties, and this is a great advantage of the current situation. But there will be no stability here until a peace agreement is signed.”
According to him, the same approach can be applied to all other parts of the world - the Middle East and Africa:
"Unfortunately, the number of conflicts is increasing, and if you look for a conflict that has been resolved, you can see that the conflict here, in Karabakh, has been resolved. This is the only conflict that has been resolved based on international law and historical justice. This solution is accepted by the whole world."
