US President Donald Trump's top trade adviser, Peter Navarro, has called Tesla CEO Elon Musk an "auto assembler" who depends on parts from other countries.
Axar.az informs that he made the comment while commenting on Musk's call for "zero tariffs" between the US and Europe.
Navarro, known as the architect of Trump's tariff plans, told CNBC that Musk has done a good job of streamlining government, but given his role as the "auto guy", his comments on tariffs are not surprising.
"When it comes to tariffs and trade, all of us in the White House and the American people think of Elon as an automaker, but he is not an automaker. He is an auto assembler. Because a lot of Tesla parts come from Japan, China, and Taiwan, and he assembles them," Navarro said.
"He is an auto guy. This is his line of business, and he wants to buy foreign parts cheaply," the adviser added.
Recall that Musk previously said he hoped that Europe and the United States would achieve a "zero tariff situation" and effectively create a free trade zone.
