White House split on Russia

There is a conflict in the White House regarding negotiations with Putin - the US president does not know whether to put strong pressure on the Kremlin or not!

Axar.az reports that the Wall Street Journal wrote about this.

It is reported that Donald Trump's closest advisers are divided on this issue:

"Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy Keith Kellogg are urging the US president to take a tougher stance against Moscow. They do not see a genuine desire for peace in Putin and warn against trusting the Kremlin too much. They propose that as long as Moscow only demands Ukrainian territory and does not stop military operations, there will be no concessions!"

However, it seems that Trump is listening more to his special envoy Steve Witkoff, who has already met Putin twice in Moscow and is convinced that the Russian dictator wants peace.

These contradictions in the White House are already spilling over into the public sphere. After the missile attack on the Russian city of Sumy, Trump called the incident a "mistake" and blamed Joe Biden for the war. Rubio and Kellogg took a tougher stance: Rubio assessed the attack as "brutal and tragic", while Kellogg called it "a violation of all norms of decency". After that, Trump himself was forced to admit It turns out that Putin is one of the people responsible for this war.”

It is noted that currently, the White House is engaged in intense discussions about whether it is necessary to tighten sanctions against Russia to effectively force Putin to the negotiating table.
