The Russian government has submitted a draft law to the State Duma that grants non-citizens the right to join the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Axar.az reports citing Russian media, "The draft law introduces amendments to the Federal Law 'On Military Duty and Military Service', under which non-citizens are granted the right to sign a contract for military service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and other military formations," the explanatory note to the bill states.

It is noted that the draft law is "aimed at expanding the range of individuals who can enter military service under contract."
