Germany’s Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has emphasised that Europe must be prepared for the day when Russia and Ukraine reach a ceasefire agreement.

Axar.az reports, citing Tagesschau, he noted that, although Russia has once again shown it is currently not interested in ending its war of aggression, European countries must look beyond the immediate situation.

"We must be prepared for Day X, when a ceasefire occurs," said the SPD politician. He added that such a ceasefire would not offer endless time for negotiations toward lasting peace. Europeans must be ready to engage in dialogue when that moment comes.
