US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has confirmed that completing the Caspian interconnector is in the interests of the US and its allies.

Axar.az reports that the Secretary of State testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Senator Steve Daines said that a 20-mile gas pipeline would be enough to connect Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan and then to the interconnector in Europe. He asked Marco Rubio whether it was in the US's interest to complete this interconnector.

“I think so. I’m not an expert on these 20 miles, but I can certainly see from your argument, the way you’ve put it, that it’s of great importance in the world,” Rubio said in response.
