A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck southwest Turkiye.

Axar.az reports that the information was released by AFAD.

The epicenter of the quake was recorded in the Mediterranean Sea, 10.43 km off the coast of Marmaris district in Mugla province.

The earthquake occurred at 2:17 a.m. local time (3:17 a.m. Baku time) at a depth of 67.91 km.

Tremors were also felt in the cities of İzmir and Antalya, in addition to Muğla.

Mugla Governor İdris Akbiyik stated that one person died of panic and 69 others were injured as a result of the strong earthquake that hit the country’s southwestern coast.

He noted that there were no structural collapses.

The identity of the person who died in the earthquake in Turkiye has been confirmed.

The country’s Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya, shared the news.

“During the earthquake in Mugla’s Fethiye district, 14-year-old Afranur Gunlu suffered a panic attack. She was rushed to the hospital and received all possible medical treatment, but unfortunately, she passed away,” the minister said.
