Germany's Merz says Netanyahu informed him of attack on Iran

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had informed him by phone about Israel’s military actions against Iran and their goals.

Axar.az informs German government’s press service said.

"Israeli forces carried out strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, as well as its command structures and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps at night. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu briefed me by phone this morning about the military actions and their goals," Merz said.

He added that following this, a government meeting was held to address the security situation. "We reviewed the situation based on the information we have at our disposal," Merz explained.

Merz said that German security authorities would increase protection for Jewish and Israeli institutions in Germany.

Germany calls on Israel and Iran to refrain from further steps that may lead to additional escalation and destabilization of the region, Merz said.
