The U.S. State Department spokesperson announced that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov have agreed to appoint high-level teams to accelerate cooperation toward ending the Russia-Ukraine war.

The United States and Russia also agreed to address issues that have disrupted bilateral relations.
Rubio and Lavrov committed to future collaboration on shared geopolitical concerns and to exploring economic and investment opportunities that may arise after the war ends.
The State Department emphasized that efforts to end the war are still in their early stages.
Following the U.S.–Russia foreign ministers’ meeting in Saudi Arabia, the spokesperson noted: “A phone call between Trump and Putin, followed by a meeting, is not enough to establish lasting peace.”
