On June 21, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Uzbek counterpart Bakhtiyor Saidov on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Istanbul.

During the meeting, the ministers discussed the political, economic, transport and communication, humanitarian, and other aspects of the Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan alliance, as well as regional and international security issues of mutual interest.
They also noted the broad potential for expanding multilateral cooperation within the frameworks of the UN, the OIC, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of Turkic States, the Economic Cooperation Organization, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
The ministers discussed recent regional developments, highlighting concern over rising tensions in the Middle East, particularly the growing Israel–Iran confrontation.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
