Russian Minister of Energy Alexander Novak said that this issue was discussed with the Vice-President of the European Commission for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič.
Axar.az reports citing Interfax that Russia is ready to hold gas talks with the EU and Ukraine on September 19. Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak stated.
“Mr. Šefčovič and I discussed this date. And, as far as I heard, the Ukrainian side also agreed on this date. Therefore, we will consider the 19th as an agreed date. We are ready to hold such consultations on September 19,” he said.
Earlier it was reported that the current contract between Naftogaz and Gazprom for the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine ends on December 31, 2019. Therefore, on January 1, 2020, the parties must conclude a new agreement.
The Ukrainian side stated it was ready to participate in the trilateral negotiations on Russian gas supply and transit through Ukraine to the EU in September 2019.
