An anti-cancer vaccine developed in Russia will be tested on melanoma (skin cancer) patients.
Axar.az informs that it was reported by Alexander Ginzburg, director of the Russian National Scientific-Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology.
According to him, the research procedure of this vaccine drug will be different from the usual one - there will be no classic first, second and third phases of trials:
"We are currently working on melanoma because it is technically easier. Skin cancer is superficial, everything is visible, but there will be other studies. The Kazan Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology conducts research on other models, especially small cell lung cancer, which kills about 1.2-1.3 million people worldwide. This is one of the most common malignant cancers."
The director of the center added that the vaccine will be administered individually, taking into account the condition of the patients:
This product was developed by several scientific groups - the Russian Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, the Moscow Research Institute of Oncology and the National Medical Research Oncology Center.
Andrey Kaprin, chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia, general director of the National Medical Research Radiology Center, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that clinical trials have already been completed.
