Political relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are today characterized by high mutual trust. Over the past decades, we have built a strategic and allied partnership based on historical brotherhood, friendship, and mutual support, a solid foundation of common Turkic identity, similar cultural traditions, and spiritual values.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in an interview with Kazinform Agency on the eve of his state visit to Kazakhstan.
“I would like to note the active and constructive dialogue as an important factor contributing to the strengthening of bilateral cooperation. These activities are taking place at a high level and give impetus to the comprehensive deepening of interstate relations at all levels. This is my seventh visit to the fraternal country in the last three years. I am glad to witness the rapid development of Kazakhstan and new achievements during each of my visits. These achievements are evidence of the purposeful and planned state policy implemented under the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The successful implementation of reforms aimed at the modernization of the country and diversification of the economy is especially impressive. I would like to congratulate the entire fraternal Kazakh people on these remarkable results. During this period, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has visited Azerbaijan six times. All this demonstrates our desire to develop a comprehensive partnership and strategic mutual relations between our countries. In addition, regular contacts allow us to promptly resolve urgent issues on the agenda and develop agreed positions on the main areas of cooperation. Taking this opportunity, the Kurmangazy Children's, I would like to express my gratitude once again to brotherly Kazakhstan, which built the Creativity Center. Today, this center has become an important cultural and educational center, where about 100 children are educated," the head of state said.
Ilham Aliyev noted that over the past years, the two countries have developed a solid legal framework - about 170 documents, and have created effective cooperation mechanisms in political, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian, and other areas:
“I would like to emphasize the importance of the Treaty on Strategic Partnership and Alliance between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. At the same time, this year we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the signing of this important document. This document has created a solid foundation for the development of Azerbaijani-Kazakhstani cooperation in various fields, and over the past years, cooperation between our countries in all directions has significantly expanded. It is also necessary to note the importance of holding the Supreme Interstate Council. Its first meeting was held last year during the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan. The second meeting to be held in Astana will discuss the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation and steps taken to raise Azerbaijani-Kazakh relations to a new level.
Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan work effectively in multilateral formats, including within international and regional organizations. In particular, the UN, the Organization of Turkic States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia have established effective relations within the framework of the Meeting of the Parties to the Convention and other organizations. The two countries have consistently supported each other in the international arena and have expressed common positions on many issues."
Let us recall that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will pay a state visit to Kazakhstan on October 20-21.
