Armenia plans to buy natural gas from Azerbaijan

The Armenian government plans to purchase natural gas from Azerbaijan.

Axar.az reports that Armenian political analyst Benyamin Matevosyan stated.

According to the expert, this will happen in the context of Armenia’s move to abandon Russian gas:

“During the recent plenary session of Euronest held in Yerevan, a member of the European Parliament called on Armenia to give up Russian gas and electricity.”

Matevosyan believes that the European parliamentarian was actually expressing the position of Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party.

The political analyst also quoted the party’s MP Gagik Melkonyan:

“Is Azerbaijani gas poisonous that we shouldn’t buy it? One day, we must give up Russian gas if we want to live independently.”
