Leyen: Ukraine’s borders cannot be changed by force

Ukraine’s borders cannot be changed by force, its army cannot be reduced, and the European Union must play a central role in the peace agreement for Ukraine.

Axar.az reports that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said this.

“Any reliable and lasting peace plan must first and foremost stop the killings and end the war, while not sowing the seeds for future conflict. We have agreed on the essential elements necessary for a just, lasting peace and Ukraine’s sovereignty.

First, borders cannot be changed by force. Second, as a sovereign nation, Ukraine’s armed forces cannot be restricted in a way that would make the country vulnerable to future attacks and compromise European security.

Third, the European Union’s central role in ensuring peace for Ukraine must be fully reflected. Ukraine has the freedom and sovereign right to choose its destiny. They have chosen a European future,” Leyen stated.
