Russian political analyst Sergey Markov has shared his conclusions regarding the outcome of Vladimir Putin’s talks with the team of US President Donald Trump.
Axar.az reports that Markov summarized his thoughts in 10 points:
- The talks lasted five hours and concluded late at night.
- No peace agreement was reached.
- The talks were positive.
- They decided not to disclose anything about the substance of the negotiations to the public.
- They discussed a 28-point plan brought by the Americans, along with four additional documents. However, nothing about these documents was revealed.
- Trump’s team conveyed Trump’s warm personal wishes to Putin. Putin, in turn, sent his good wishes to Trump. A meeting between Putin and Trump is not planned yet.
- Ushakov emphasized the importance of withdrawing Ukrainian forces from Donbas overnight, while Rubio stressed that the withdrawal of the Ukrainian army from Donbas is the most critical issue. This contradicts Russia’s statements that the main issue is overall security.
- The plane carrying Witkoff and Kushner immediately departed for the US and did not even stop in Europe to speak with Zelensky — despite Zelensky being eager to talk and requesting a discussion en route.
- After meeting Putin, Witkoff contacted Trump from the US Embassy building and informed him about the talks. However, Trump has not made any statement so far;
- The discussion focused on general principles rather than specific points,” he said.
