Azerbaijan launches first-ever school satellite into orbit

For the first time in Azerbaijan’s history, the "Zafar" (Victory) school satellite has been launched into orbit.

Axar.az reports this was announced by Imran Mukhtarov, the head of the SPACE Academy under the Space Agency ("Azercosmos") of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, during a briefing dedicated to the satellite launch.

He stated that the satellite, named "Azerbaijan’s Victory," was launched into orbit by SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket.

The PocketQube-type satellite measures 5x5x5 cm and weighs about 250 grams. These satellites are made from durable materials (aluminum alloys, carbon composites) that ensure mechanical strength and thermal management.

PocketQube satellites were first launched into orbit in November 2013. That launch, carried out via Austria’s UniSat-5 platform, placed several mini-satellites into orbit, including WREN (Germany), T-LogoQube (USA), and QBScout-1 (Italy). This concept is not only a product of technological progress but also a symbolic reflection of the idea that space belongs to everyone.
