Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Berlin discussed the new developments in relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, emphasizing that practical mechanisms of mutual communication are already being restored in the region and could serve as a basis for lasting peace.
Axar.az informs, citing Armenpress, Pashinyan recalled Azerbaijan’s recent decision to lift restrictions on the transit of goods through its territory to Armenia.
"I appreciate this decision and the statement of the President of Azerbaijan, as it is a very important and positive development. What seemed impossible just a few months ago is now a reality: grain is being transported from Kazakhstan to Armenia by rail through the territories of Azerbaijan and Georgia," the Prime Minister said, stressing that this is an unprecedented development in the history of independent Armenia.
According to Pashinyan, Armenia is also ready, both politically and technically, to allow the transit of goods between Turkiye and Azerbaijan through its territory, even today.
"I am confident that through daily efforts towards peace, by preserving the text and spirit of the Washington Declaration, and by rejecting narratives that undermine the process, the governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan will be able to institutionalize lasting peace between our two countries," the Prime Minister concluded.
