Germany welcomes the establishment of economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Axar.az reports that this was stated in a statement by the Department for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia of the German Foreign Ministry (FDA).
"Yerevan and Baku have reached an agreement on the transit of liquefied natural gas and bitumen to Armenia via the territory of Azerbaijan. This is another step towards the normalization of economic relations between the two neighboring countries - we welcome this development," the statement said.
Earlier, on January 27, Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan announced that Yerevan and Baku had reached an agreement on the supply of liquefied natural gas and bitumen to Armenia via Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that in October 2025, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev adopted a decision to lift restrictions on cargo transit imposed on Armenia during the occupation of Azerbaijani territories. Since then, direct and transit railway transportation has been carried out in this direction.
The first batch of Azerbaijani petroleum products was sent to Armenia in December 2025 and consisted of 1,220 tons of AI-95 gasoline, while the second and third batches were delivered on January 9 and 10, respectively.
