Hajiyev: Armenia must amend constitution

Articles in Armenia's Constitution containing territorial claims against Azerbaijan and Turkiye must be removed.

Axar.az reports that Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, made the statement in an interview with Turkiye's Haber Global television channel.

According to Hajiyev, the signals received so far indicate that Armenia is preparing to begin the process of adopting a new constitution.

"Once these territorial claims are removed from the constitution, Azerbaijan sees no obstacle to signing a final peace agreement. Beyond that, there is already a de facto state of peace in our region," he said.

Hajiyev also spoke about the brotherly ties between Turkiye and Azerbaijan.

"Where Turkiye is absent, Azerbaijan is present, and where Azerbaijan is absent, Turkiye is present. We respond firmly to any action directed against the interests of our countries, and we will continue to do so," he said.
