The Iran-Israel/US crisis is unlikely to be resolved in the short term. We respect Iran’s stability and territorial integrity, but the people living on the other side of our 765-kilometer border with Iran are our brothers and sisters with whom we share the same religion, language and ethnic heritage. That is why we are following the developments with greater sensitivity.

Axar.az reports that Presidential aide Hikmet Hajiyev made the remarks in an interview with "Turkiye" newspaper.

“We have shaped our position on the Iran crisis based on the mission Turkiye has undertaken. We have a 24-hour open channel for consultations and dialogue. We are taking the same approach as Ankara regarding all civilians living in Iran and people of Turkic origin,” he said.

Hajiyev stressed that relations between Azerbaijan and Israel would not develop in a way that could harm Turkiye:

“There are groups seeking to damage our relations and spread disinformation on this issue with all their might. We are providing assistance to Gaza. We have a representative office in Ramallah. We continue our other social initiatives aimed at supporting Palestine as well. We will not take part in any project that goes against Turkiye’s interests.

The claims that there are Israeli bases in Azerbaijan or that Baku serves as a lifeline for Israel are nothing more than false propaganda fabricated by the enemies of Turkiye and Azerbaijan. Let them come. Let us walk around step by step and see whether there is anything here belonging to Israel. We will allow those making such claims to inspect any place they wish.

We cannot remain indifferent to Gaza and the suffering of the Palestinian people, and we do not. The two-state solution is Baku’s red line on this issue. We are even carrying out a preventive role to help avoid possible crises between Israel and Turkiye. The meeting between representatives of the Syrian administration and Israel in Azerbaijan was also important in this regard.”

The presidential aide said that first and foremost, as the Turkic world, we are building strong networks within our own community by air, land and sea:

“The Organization of Turkic States has evolved into a global economic, trade and energy hub. This presents a great opportunity to strengthen our unity and leave our mark on this era. We are in the final stage regarding the Zangezur Corridor. Almost everything will become clear this summer. Our railway, road and maritime connections are gaining momentum every day.

Turkiye is undoubtedly at the center of this shared energy of the Turkic world. All Turkic states are strongly connected through fiber-optic networks. System integration has largely been completed. The entire Turkic world should look to the future with confidence. We are a big family.

We are working to erase the traces of occupation in Karabakh. At present, 13 percent of our territory is covered with Armenian mines. We have spent millions of dollars, and it appears this struggle will continue for many more years.

We paid a heavy price for the Armenian occupation of Karabakh in 1993. However, we say that the war is over, and now it is time for peace. We are making efforts to fulfill the requirements of peace.”
