The construction of the offshore section of the Trans-Caspian Fiber-Optic Communication Line (FOCL) along the Caspian Sea bed in Kazakhstan has been successfully completed.

Axar.az reports, citing APА, that the submarine cable has reached the Kazakh coast as part of a project implemented by Kazakhtelecom and AzerTelecom International.

The new cable, laid along the Aktau–Sumgayit route, will create a high-speed data transmission corridor between Asia and Europe and strengthen digital connectivity between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

Work is currently underway to connect the cable to the coastal infrastructure. The project is scheduled to be fully completed this autumn.

The construction and operation of the Trans-Caspian fiber-optic communication line is being carried out by CaspiLink B.V., a joint venture established by Kazakhtelecom and AzerTelecom International. The project is being financed entirely by the operators without any allocation from the state budget.
