Hajiyev: Remarks misrepresented in Turkish media report - Photo

Statements by Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev were misrepresented in an article published by Turkiye Gazetesi journalist Yilmaz Bilgen on August 5, 2026.

Axar.az reports that Hajiyev wrote about the issue on his X account.

"We had an interesting meeting with Turkish media representatives visiting Azerbaijan. However, I regret to note that in the report published by Yılmaz Bilgen, a journalist for “Turkiye Gazetesi,” on August 5, 2026, some views attributed to me were presented in a distorted manner. A number of statements quoted as my remarks in that article are incorrect," Hajiyev stated.

"I would like to emphasize once again that the Republic of Azerbaijan pursues an independent and principled foreign policy based on its national interests," he added.

The Azerbaijani presidential official emphasized that Azerbaijan pursues an independent and principled foreign policy based on its national interests.
