US-Azerbaijan relations have been on a “very good trajectory” over the past year, according to Glen Howard, president and chairman of the Saratoga Foundation.

Axar.az reports that, speaking to Аzertac on the anniversary of the August 8, 2025, White House meeting between the leaders of the United States, Azerbaijan and Armenia, Howard highlighted several developments in bilateral relations.

“It has been a great year of development. In just one year, Azerbaijan and the U.S. achieved so much, including the visit of the U.S. Vice President to Baku. Honestly, it can’t get any better than that. Both presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan visited the White House. Relations are on a very good trajectory right now,” Howard said.

He said the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) would strengthen the US role in the South Caucasus.

“The TRIPP is going to strengthen America’s role in the South Caucasus in terms of economic cooperation and will play a big role in helping to bring about more economic connectivity between the South Caucasus and the Caspian region with Turkiye,” he said.

Howard also said improved regional connectivity would benefit Azerbaijan.

“Azerbaijan's relationship with the region is overall the best it's ever been. That's why Azerbaijan is a rising power in the South Caucasus.”

He added that Washington was continuing to deepen its relationship with Baku and expressed hope that the waiver of Section 907 restrictions would eventually lead to their permanent lifting.
