Central Asia and Azerbaijan today represent a single geopolitical and economic region with great potential for development.

Axar.az reports that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said this in a joint statement to the press with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The head of state emphasized Mirziyoyev’s special role in Azerbaijan joining the cooperation format with Central Asian countries.

“The geography of cooperation has expanded. Central Asia and Azerbaijan today represent a single geopolitical and economic region with great potential and even greater development opportunities in the future,” Aliyev said.

According to him, close cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan largely determines the positive dynamics of the region’s development.

“This, to a great extent, depends on the overall positive dynamics of development of this large region, which, I would even say, has only recently taken shape and is already fairly well integrated,” the President noted.
