Regular consular consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan have taken place in the city of Ashgabat.

Axar.az informs, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, that the Azerbaijani delegation at the consultations was led by Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emil Safarov, while the Turkmen delegation was represented by Head of the Consular Services Department Dovletmyrat Muratov.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Migration Service, and the Prosecutor General's Office of Turkmenistan, as well as an official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan and staff members of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan.

During the consular consultations, the sides exchanged views on the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation in the consular sphere.

Delegations from both states discussed issues concerning the protection of the rights and interests of their respective citizens, including the simplification of existing visa regimes.

The meeting covered matters of interaction in the fields of internal affairs, citizenship, migration, justice, education, and other key areas.

At the conclusion of the negotiations, the heads of both delegations signed the protocol of the meeting and agreed to hold the next round of consultations in Baku next year.
