EU to consider visa waivers for Ukraine March 2

The Committee of Permanent Representatives of EU member states (COREPER) will formally approve the decision on visa liberalization for Ukraine at a meeting in Brussels on March 2.

Consideration at COREPER will be the first stage of a visa liberalization approval at the level of Member States.

On February 28, interinstitutional talks between the Council of the European Union, the European Commission and the European Parliament on EU visa liberalization for Ukraine ended successfully. "Visa trialogue for Ukraine has ended successfully.

EU ambassadors will approve on 2 march (second round of approval likely in may)," RFE/RL correspondent in Brussels wrote on Twitter on February 28. It is expected that the visa-free regime for Ukraine could actually enter into force in early June.
