Israel condemns Sri Lanka bloody attacks

Israel offered condolences and support to Sri Lanka after bomb attacks on churches and hotels have left at least 185 people dead on Sunday.

Axar.az reports citing Xinhua.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attack in a statement issued by his office. "On behalf of the citizens of Israel... (I) express deep shock at the murderous attacks against innocent civilians in Sri Lanka," he said.

He added that Israel is ready to assist the authorities in Sri Lanka. "The entire world must unite in the struggle against the plague of terror," he said.

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin denounced that attacks as "despicable crime."

"We are all children of God; an attack on one religion is an attack on us all," he said on Twitter.

The Association of Baptist Churches in Israel released a statement of condolence to the victims and their relatives. "The news is sad, painful, and outrageous," the statement read. "We pray in memory of the souls of the dead and wish speedy recovery for the wounded."

Multiple bomb attacks in churches and hotels were reported on Easter Day, where hundreds of worshipers gathered.

No organization immediately assumed responsibility.
