Afghanistan suspended operations against the Taliban

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has ordered an end to operations against the Taliban.

Axar.az reports that the decision was made to support the peace process between the United States and the Taliban. Gani said this could be a stimulus for a long-term ceasefire.

However, operations against the Taliban have been suspended for a week. Ghani said his decision on the Taliban did not apply to other terrorist organizations operating in the country.

The ceasefire agreement between Washington and the Taliban was signed on February 29 in Qatar.
