Ali Asadov spoke with the Vice President of Iran

On May 21, at the initiative of the Iranian side, a telephone conversation took place between the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov and the First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ishaq Jahangiri.

Axar.az reports that, during the telephone conversation, the sides exchanged information on successful measures taken by the two countries to prevent coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, the Cabinet of Ministers told Axar.az.

The Iranian side thanked Azerbaijan for the humanitarian assistance provided to combat the pandemic. Special emphasis was placed on the work done within the transport corridors to ensure uninterrupted cargo transportation.

The Iranian side expressed gratitude for the conditions created for Iranian citizens to return to their countries from Azerbaijan during the pandemic.

The Iranian side was informed on May 22 that another 120 Iranian citizens returned to their countries from the Astara checkpoint. The Iranian side once again asked to consider the possibility of extradition of Iranian citizens convicted in Azerbaijan based on the principles of humanism.

A number of issues of mutual interest were discussed during the telephone conversation.
