Pakistan’s new ambassador to Armenia presents credentials

Pakistan’s newly appointed ambassador to Armenia, Shafqat Ali Khan, has presented his credentials to Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan.

Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, that Khachaturyan congratulated the ambassador on the start of his diplomatic mission and wished him success.

The meeting discussed opportunities to develop cooperation in areas of mutual interest and promote new areas of cooperation.

It should be noted that Pakistan had not established diplomatic relations with Armenia due to Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan. Only after Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity and Armenia initialled a peace agreement with Azerbaijan did Pakistan take steps last year toward establishing political ties with Armenia.

Shafqat Ali Khan is Pakistan’s first ambassador to Armenia.
