Poland arrests six suspected of spying for Russia

Polish authorities have arrested six people suspected of involvement in an organised criminal group operating against the interests of the country, including five Polish nationals and a Russian woman.

Axar.az reports that Polish Minister-Coordinator of Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak said on X that four of the suspects have been remanded in custody on espionage charges, while preventive measures not involving detention have been imposed on the other two.

The arrests followed an investigation conducted between October 21 and November 2, during which the Internal Security Agency (ABW) searched 21 locations across the Warmian-Masurian, Pomeranian and Greater Poland provinces.

Evidence suggests that the suspects were working for Russian intelligence services and helping strengthen Russia's military capabilities by illegally supplying Russia with large quantities of materials used in the production of ammunition and weapons systems.

Siemoniak added that nearly 100 people had been classified as suspects in espionage and sabotage investigations conducted by the ABW since January 1, 2024.
