The President spoke about the mass grave found in Edilli

President Ilham Aliyev spoke about the recent mass grave in the village of Edilli, Khojavend.

Axar.az reports the head of state made this statement on April 4 while receiving Director-General of the International Commission on Missing Persons Catherine Bomberger.

The head of state noted that 3,890 Azerbaijanis had been reported missing since the first Armenian-Azerbaijani war, many of whom had been tortured and killed, and buried in mass graves by Armenia. President Ilham Aliyev said that although Azerbaijan had repeatedly appealed to Armenia on this humanitarian issue, Armenia had not demonstrated constructive cooperation and goodwill.

The head of state noted that such a mass grave had recently been identified in the village of Edilli in Khojavend and that the remains of those buried there had been excavated and submitted to laboratory tests for DNA analysis.

President Ilham Aliyev stressed that the issue of missing persons is always on the state's agenda, and it is being discussed with the European Union and other international institutions.
