Lufthansa cuts 20000 flights to save fuel as prices soar

Lufthansa has announced that it will reduce its summer schedule by 20,000 short-haul flights in order to offset rising jet fuel costs.

Axar.az informs that most of the reductions are linked to the shutdown of its loss-making CityLine operation and the retirement of 27 aircraft.

"In total, 20,000 short-haul flights will be removed from the schedule through October, equivalent to approximately 40,000 metric tons of jet fuel, the price of which has doubled since the outbreak of the Iran conflict," Lufthansa Group said in a statement.
