EU fails again to agree on action against Israel

The foreign ministers of European Union member states have once again failed to reach agreement on taking action against Israel, including proposals to suspend the bloc’s partnership pact with the country.

Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas announced the outcome after the ministers’ meeting.

Kallas said there was not sufficient support among member states to suspend the EU-Israel agreement, although discussions on relations with Israel would continue.

“I didn’t see the shifting of positions in the room regarding the suspension,” Kallas said.

The report notes that divisions within the bloc have repeatedly prevented the European Union from adopting sanctions or broader restrictive measures against Israel.
