Former Commander-in-Chief of the Kazakh Navy Kanat Niyazbekov has been arrested.

Axar.az reports, citing Kazakh media, that he was arrested on charges of negligence in connection with the deaths of servicemen during military drills in the Caspian Sea.

It should be noted that on September 24, 17 servicemen fell into the sea after weather conditions suddenly and sharply deteriorated during military exercises in the Caspian Sea. Three of them were rescued, while 14 died.
