Armenian lawmakers again clash in parliament -

Lawmakers from Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party and the opposition Strong Armenia party got into a physical altercation in parliament.

Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, that tensions escalated after Speaker Ruben Rubinyan interrupted a speech by Edgar Ghazaryan of Strong Armenia, who had accused the parliamentary speaker of misappropriating state funds. Rubinyan said Ghazaryan’s remarks were outside the agenda and did not allow him to finish his speech.

Afterward, Civil Contract lawmaker Vahe Galumyan got up from his seat and approached his Strong Armenia colleague Vaginak Vartanov. Galumyan pushed Vartanov several times, triggering a scuffle between the lawmakers.

Speaker Ruben Rubinyan called a recess, while parliamentary security officers intervened.

The situation was not immediately defused. The lawmakers continued their confrontation in the corridors, where the dispute turned into a verbal altercation.
