On September 28, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of State for the European Region of Great Britain, Leo Docherty, had a telephone conversation.
Axar.az was informed about this by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
It was reported that during the telephone conversation, the cooperation agenda between the two countries, as well as the current situation in the region, were discussed.
J. Bayramov informed the other party in detail about the current situation in the region after the local anti-terror measures taken by Azerbaijan in the Karabakh region. As a result of anti-terrorist measures, the termination of the presence of the Armenian armed forces, which threaten peace and stability in the region, and their disarmament, once again demonstrated the terrible level of militarization in the sovereign territories of our country. It was stated that the anti-terrorist measures, at the same time, gave impetus to the reintegration of the Armenian residents living in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan into our society, and in this regard, as a result of the contacts between the representative of the Government of Azerbaijan and the representatives of the local Armenian residents, practical steps were taken by us to meet the needs of those residents.
It was noted that the claims of the Armenian side about the alleged "ethnic cleansing" in the region are untrue and that our country has taken measures to reintegrate Armenian residents into our society.
It was emphasized once again that our country is committed to the normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia on a bilateral basis, as well as to the reintegration efforts of the Armenian residents living in the Karabakh region within the framework of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the international mechanisms to which we are party.
Within the framework of the telephone conversation, opinions were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
