Trump postpones military strikes on Iran for five days

President Donald Trump announced Monday that he is delaying planned strikes on Iran’s power plants for five days, saying the U.S. and Tehran have had “very good and productive conversations” aimed at ending the conflict.

Axar.az reports, citing NBC, Trump posted on his Truth Social platform just hours before the deadline he had given Tehran to “fully open” the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

“Based on the tenor and tone of these in-depth, detailed, and constructive conversations, witch [sic] will continue throughout the week, I have instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period, subject to the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions,” he wrote.

Iran responded by denying that any direct talks had taken place with the Foreign Ministry issuing a statement to state-run newspaper IRAN that read:

“Remarks by the US president are part of efforts to reduce energy prices and buy time to implement his military plans."
