IRGC says it foiled planned attack in southern Iran

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it has foiled a planned terrorist operation in the southern part of Sistan and Baluchestan province.

Axar.az reports, citing a statement published on the IRGC's Telegram channel, that the group had been previously identified and monitored by intelligence services before security forces ambushed it ahead of the planned operation.

The statement said one member of the group was killed and several others were arrested, while the remaining suspects were being pursued.

According to the IRGC, the group had planned to attack security force bases deployed in the area and block the road between Zarabad and Konarak.
