After Tavush comes Syunik (Zangezur - Ed.). In the next step, Azerbaijan will demand a corridor from Armenia to Nakhchivan. Turkish officials are already openly stating that the next stage in regulating Armenian-Azerbaijani relations is the opening of the Zangezur corridor.
Axar.az reports that Armenian commentator Avetis Babajanyan wrote about this.
The Armenian commentator noted that everything can be taken from Armenia under the threat of war:
"Nikol Pashinyan has demonstrated this. We must voluntarily give up the Zangezur corridor, and if we don't, there will be war. Pashinyan will convince that the issue is not that bad, and certain privileges are provided to Azerbaijanis for passing through that route, for example, there will be no customs control. The authorities will justify the next concession to Azerbaijan for various reasons and assure people that Syunik (Zangezur) will soon turn into a peace zone and a trade center, it will even develop so much that we will regret why it wasn’t done earlier. All of this should be done by September, as Azerbaijan, Turkiye, and Armenia are insisting. The Zangezur corridor will be realized by September."
A. Babajanyan writes that the presence of Russian troops in Zangezur hinders Pashinyan's plans.
"Even if Russian troops are withdrawn from various parts of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, their military presence continues in Syunik. It was previously reported that Azerbaijan had demanded the withdrawal of Russian border guards from the border with Azerbaijan, and Yerevan complied," he claims, adding that if Russian soldiers completely withdraw from Zangezur, this region will come under the control of Azerbaijan and Turkiye.
