On May 20, 2025, the next meeting of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Croatia was held in Zagreb.

The delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Fariz Rzayev, and State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of this country, Frano Matušić headed the Croatian delegation.
At the meeting, views were exchanged on the dynamics of the development of political relations between Azerbaijan and Croatia, and it was noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The revival observed in high-level visit exchanges in recent years was appreciated, and the importance of continuing these visits and strengthening contacts within international organizations to ensure the intensity of political dialogue was emphasized.
Then, cooperation in the economic and trade sector, including in the fields of traditional and alternative energy, and future development prospects, was discussed. In addition, they discussed the projects implemented in the field of humanitarian demining, and the importance of developing an appropriate contractual and legal framework for expanding cooperation in this and other areas was noted.
The meeting also provided detailed information on the situation in the region during the post-conflict period, the Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization process, the steps taken by our country to ensure lasting peace, the obstacles encountered and the latest developments towards a peace agreement, as well as large-scale reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories.
Finally, the parties exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
During the visit, F. Rzayev also held working meetings with other Croatian officials and spoke at a conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijani-Croatian diplomatic relations.
