During a tense and highly choreographed Oval Office meeting, U.S. President Donald Trump confronted South African President Cyril Ramaphosa with accusations regarding the alleged persecution of white farmers in South Africa.

Axar.az reports that during the Oval Office meeting, Trump dimmed the lights, aired provocative footage, and held up news clippings to emphasize claims of "white genocide"—a discredited narrative.

Though Ramaphosa had recently signed a controversial land reform bill, he calmly countered the allegations, clarifying that the politicians shown in the video were not part of the government and that the bill had not yet been enacted.

Ramaphosa emphasized listening to South Africans rather than foreign rhetoric and maintained composure throughout the ambush.

Ramaphosa deflected Trump's provocations with a strategic diplomatic move, bringing along respected white South Africans, including two famous golfers and an agriculture minister from an opposition party.

This subtle yet symbolic gesture seemed to buffer the president from Trump's accusations and resonated with Trump's known fondness for golf.

While Ramaphosa refrained from engaging in the heated debate, his calm, measured responses contrasted with Trump's performative style, which appeared more targeted at energizing his domestic base than fostering productive diplomacy. The meeting underscored the theatrical nature of Trump’s second-term diplomacy and the growing adaptability of foreign leaders in navigating it.
