Baku and Brussels hold key political talks

On October 21, 2024, the next meeting of political consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Belgium was held in Baku.

Axar.az was informed about this by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It was noted that the delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Fariz Rzayev, and the delegation of the Kingdom of Belgium was headed by Jeroen Kooreman, Director General of Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the consultations, relations between Azerbaijan and Belgium in the political sphere were discussed, the importance of mutual visits and meetings within the framework of international events for maintaining a continuous political dialogue was noted.

For the development of relations in the economic sphere, the importance of increasing trade turnover, benefiting from cooperation opportunities in the fields of energy, transport and high technologies was emphasized, as well as discussions were held on strategic energy and transport projects implemented with the initiative and participation of our country.

It was said that increasing exchanges in fields such as culture and education will be effective in the development of international contacts.

At the meeting, views were exchanged on cooperation within the framework of international organizations, preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be hosted by Azerbaijan in November of this year, and the work done.

Regional issues were also in focus during the consultations. The other party was informed about the situation in the region during the post-conflict period, the normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations, the steps taken by Azerbaijan in the direction of establishing sustainable peace in the region, the problem of landmines in our territories freed from occupation, and the large-scale reconstruction and reconstruction works carried out there.

The parties exchanged views on issues on the international agenda, as well as other topics of mutual interest.
