The coalition led by Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has lost its parliamentary majority, marking its worst result in over a decade. Together with its smaller coalition partner, Komeito, the LDP secured 215 seats, falling short of the 233-seat majority required to govern.

Axar.az reports that , citing BBC, the election was called by the LDP's new leader, Shigeru Ishiba, just days before he was inaugurated as prime minister. However, the loss of the party's majority has cast doubt on his political future.

In a speech on Monday, Ishiba acknowledged the "severe judgement" received by the LDP, stating that they would "humbly" accept the outcome.
