Armenia ready to discuss future of Russian base in Gyumri

Armenian Parliament Deputy Speaker Vahe Aleksanyan said that the Russian military base comes at a high cost for Armenia, but Yerevan is ready to discuss whether it should be withdrawn or remain in the country.

Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, that Aleksanyan made the remarks at a briefing.

“Armenia has not received any statement from Moscow about its intention to withdraw the military base from Gyumri. If Russia wants to withdraw the military base, it should announce it. If it does not, that is also a matter for discussion. We are ready to discuss it,” he said.
