Abkhazia's President Bzhaniya resigns under agreement

In Abkhazia, representatives of the government and opposition have signed an agreement declaring the "resignation" of "President" Aslan Bzhaniya.

Axar.az this information was shared by Bzhaniya's press service.

"To preserve stability and constitutional order in the Republic of Abkhazia, I am resigning from the position of 'President' in accordance with Article 65 of the Abkhazian 'Constitution'," the statement said.

As per the agreement, citizens gathered in the areas surrounding state buildings and complexes must disperse by November 19. If this condition is not met, Bzhaniya will withdraw his resignation.

It should be noted that in a previous statement, Aslan Bzhaniya had announced he would not resign.
